Airflow Deflector’s Side Guards qualify for up to $2,000 subvention under the New York City Vision Zero Incentive program offered by the Business Integrity Commission (BIC).

BIC Commissioner Daniel D. Brownell announces a new program, which will provide funding to private trade waste companies who will be early adopters of side guards on their fleets. BIC is collaborating with the Department of Transportation (“DOT”) and the Department of Citywide Administrative Services (“DCAS”) on this effort.

To be eligible for the side guard rebate program, a company must have a current license or registration issued by BIC and have no outstanding debts, judgments, liens, or other obligations payable to BIC. Eligible trucks must be Class 3 to Class 8 with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (“GVWR”) of 10,001 pounds or greater and must have a 2007 U.S. EPA emission compliant or newer model year engine.

“We are happy to announce that today we are introducing a vision zero side guard incentive program,” said BIC Commissioner Dan Brownell. “Together—city government and the members of the private trade waste industry—we can make our streets safer.”

“As part of Mayor de Blasio’s Vision Zero initiative, DCAS led the effort to design and implement truck side guards for City-owned trucks. We are excited to work with BIC and DOT to help extend this life-saving fleet technology to commercial waste hauling trucks in the City” said DCAS Commissioner Lisette Camilo.

“Safety is a key priority at DOT and we are thrilled to work with BIC and DCAS to bring this important safety enhancement to the private waste hauling industry”, said Charles Ukegbu, Assistant Commissioner for Regional and Strategic Planning at the New York City Department of Transportation.
